We price metal without being asked
Most crews quoting here are based on the mainland and propose what their suppliers stock. That is shingle, and it is a perfectly legitimate product that was nonetheless chosen a hundred miles from your roof.
We put metal on every quote as a matter of course and shingle beside it, so the comparison is on numbers rather than on what an estimator prefers. Sometimes shingle wins on budget or on how long you intend to keep the building, and those are real reasons.
We plan how the old roof leaves
Roofing is the heaviest trade there is, and on an island chain the outbound leg is a genuine cost rather than a short haul to a transfer station. Disposal, container placement and staging are settled before the job starts.
We also do not open more roof in a day than can be made watertight before the crew stops. On the mainland an overnight tarp is a minor thing; here it is a different kind of decision.
